The Department of Medicine and the Division of Cardiology at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine (Chicago) are seeking full-time physician(s) at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track. The primary responsibility will be to develop an independent research program and clinical responsibilities may include supporting the inpatient cardiology service and the ambulatory clinic.

Ideal candidates must have a strong background in cardiovascular medicine, completed an ACGME-accredited cardiology fellowship program, board-certification or board-eligibility in cardiology, and a substantial publication record demonstrating research productivity and the ability to obtain extramural funding support. High priority areas of interest to the Division of Cardiology include: 1) translational cardiovascular science; 2) genetics, epigenetics and pharmacogenomics of cardiovascular disease; 3) basic and clinical research in atherosclerosis and interventional cardiology; 4) cardiovascular epidemiology with a focus on underserved populations; and 5) cardiovascular bioinformatics. Cardiology faculty are expected to provide mentorship to graduate and medical students as well as fellowship trainees. A highly competitive start-up package will be offered as well as a salary commensurate with experience. The division has a strong track record of research and extramural funding in obesity-mediated cardiovascular disease especially in diverse racial/ethnic groups, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, genetics/pharmacogenomics of arrhythmias and heart failure and large animal in vivo studies.
